Mise-en-Scène of Desire is a mediated performance using three screens and lots of shadow work to depict the photographed poses of hysterical patients from Jean Michel Charcot's Neurological Clinic at the Salpetriere. The performance imagines what became of Charcot's most photographed hysterical patient, Augustine. According to records, she escaped from the asylum dressed as a doctor, never to be heard from again. The piece served as the culmination of Lindsay's 2010 MFA thesis project.
